Hi everyone,
As many of you know the Perham School referendum failed and the kids were very disappointed. I want to share with you all what our Perham Teenage Republicans are spearheading to help the school. They are taking the energy of disappointment and putting it to productive and positive effort. If you know of any other kids who would like to participate in this project please have them contact the kids….info in the letter below.
This is the letter to the Editor that was published in yesterday’s EOT Focus….from their own words this is a great explanation of what the kids are trying to do. I talked about this yesterday with Scott Hennen on the radio. This will be an ongoing project. We have arranged with many of the Perham businesses for the kids to set up their gift wrapping stations in their stores. I will send a schedule of those locations and times as soon as it is finalized…the kids will also have a facebook group with details.
This just goes to show, how community spirit, self reliance, and free market, positive solutions can make a difference. When we rely on the ‘government’ to fix all of our problems we just get more mired down….but when we rely on ourselves we can see swift and positive results. Here’s the letter from the Perham Teenage Republicans:
To the editor:
As I’m almost certain most of you have heard, the levy didn’t pass. I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing about it, but this isn’t a “make you feel sorry for us” letter. Some of us students are actually trying to do something about it. We don’t want to come off as beggars. We are young and willing to work. The holidays are coming around and many of you may need your gifts wrapped. Call us up and arrange a time. We’ll do it for a free-will donation. When Jack Frost decides to show up and bring snow with him, we’ll shovel your driveway for you. We are “Students Creating Solutions” and we want to help you and our school. We will be wrapping gifts on Dec. 12 at Pamida from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you want to arrange an appointment, leave a message for Mark at 218-298-0122 or send an e-mail to teenage.republicans.of.perham@hotmail.com.

Hat’s off to all of the “Students Creating Solutions” for taking the intiative and making a positive impact on our community. So, if anyone has packages they want wrapped please do not hesitate to contact the kids. They are eager to work! Please forward this to as many people as possible to get the word out!
Gretchen
