Gretchen Hoffman to Seek State Senate Seat

“It’s a Matter of Priorities” to be campaign theme

Long-time northwest Minnesota resident Gretchen Hoffman today announced her candidacy for State Senate. Hoffman, of Vergas, will face-off for the Senate District 10 seat against Dan Skogen, DFL-Wadena, who is serving his first term.

“I’m running for State Senate with a clear focus on the priorities that impact our region: job creation and economic development, budget/tax reform, health care and education,” Hoffman said.

At her campaign kick-off event in Fergus Falls, Hoffman was introduced by Mary Hauser of Fergus Falls, who stated, “Gretchen Hoffman is an accomplished leader with the decision-making skills we need. She listens, learns and acts on her convictions, unlike so many in politics today that waffle and are afraid to tell you where they stand. She’ll be a great State Senator.”

In Perham and Wadena Sue Nelson told a large group of supporters, “Gretchen Hoffman represents a new breed of leader and concerned citizen who is willing to dedicate her time and talents to move Minnesota forward. She is exactly what we need in St. Paul.”

As a former Critical Care Nurse who worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Dakota Medical Center and Perham Memorial Hospital, Hoffman has extensive health care experience. She is a small business owner and member of the Board of Directors of GPK Products, Inc., a family-owned manufacturer of PVC water and wastewater fittings, which employs 140 people.

“Last year, Dan Skogen and the DFL-dominated legislature failed to even meet their constitutional responsibility to pass a budget. As a result, Governor Pawlenty did the job, and now those same politicians are blaming him for cleaning up their mess. With families struggling, our economy sputtering, job growth lagging and politicians doing nothing but pointing fingers, the people of District 10 deserve better.” Hoffman stated.

Hoffman has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, and received her associate degree in nursing from Brainerd Community College. She and her husband Virgil have been married 27 years and have three adult sons.

Hoffman will be seeking Republican endorsement in the spring of 2010. Her campaign website is www.gretchenhoffman.com and she can be reached at 218.342.2010 or at contact@gretchenhoffman.com.
